Current areas of need
General fund
Our general fund enables Haven of Hope's stateside operation and helps meet special needs for the Haven of Hope schools and students overseas. We are seeking to grow this fund as we head into 2021, with the goal of adding another much-needed staff person to our U.S. office to help run our programs and keep serving the children as well as possible!

Bugoi school construction - teacher house (Uganda)Construction continues at the Haven of Hope school in Bugoi, Uganda. Nine classrooms, offices, a school kitchen, some teacher housing, and bathrooms have already been funded and finished. The school is currently constructing additional teacher housing, as it continues to add staff to serve its students and housing is needed to bring qualified teachers to the school. We are raising funds for a new two-unit teacher house (like the one pictured here, under construction), which will serve two teachers and their families. The cost is $15,000, including plumbing and solar power. To give toward this need, please click above or write "Teacher house" on your check. Currently needed: $0. The house has been FULLY FUNDED!

Secondary feeding program (Zambia)
Currently, we have 87 students in secondary school (grades 8–12) in Zambia, and that number will rise to 105 in 2021. With their educational costs also going up, sponsorship funds no longer cover the cost of feeding them. Since these students' government-run schools do not serve meals, they are receiving food through a supplemental "feeding program": they regularly pick up a supply of food from the Haven of Hope facilities to eat at home or during the school day. This food costs $10/month per student. Our remaining need to fully fund the feeding program through 2021 is $3,648. To help meet this need for our secondary students, please give above or write "Secondary feeding program" on your check.

Bugoi piggery project (Uganda)
The Haven of Hope school in Bugoi, Uganda, is beginning to work toward long-term sustainability at the same time that it expands its outreach to its community. Its school garden project, begun in early 2020, has fed not only its students but also needy people across the village. It also recently launched a piggery project. It has been purchasing and distributing piglets to students' families, who will raise them with the school's assistance. After they breed, each family will keep some of the new piglets (giving them a source of food and income) and bring others back to the school. These will be passed on to more families or kept by the school in its piggery, which will help the school work toward sustainability. Currently, support is needed to purchase piglets for distribution, help with veterinary care and food, and build pigpens at the school. To support this project, please donate above or write "Bugoi piggery project" on your check.

Ndola sustainability projects (Zambia)
The Haven of Hope school in Ndola, Zambia, has undertaken several agricultural projects to feed students and to work toward its goal of eventually being financially self-sustaining. Its growing piggery will soon comprise four pig houses, where pigs are being bred and raised for sale and to provide meat to students. The school has also excavated a fish pond and is preparing to start fish farming in late 2020. It plans to expand both of these projects, adding another pig house and eventually another pond, as funds are available. To support these efforts, please donate above or write "Ndola sustainability projects" on your check.

Graduate scholarship fund (Zambia)
Several of our Zambian students have now graduated from secondary school and enrolled in university or vocational training programs. We wish to help them and future graduates pursue further education, so they can enter the workforce, become financially self-supporting, and contribute to their society. We started the graduate scholarship fund to provide them with needed scholarships and make university and vocational training possible for them. To support a graduate, please donate above or write "Graduate scholarship fund" on your check.
