Haven of Hope intentionally works with local partners, as they understand their communities' needs best and are able to work effectively within their own cultures. The schools that we support in Zambia and Uganda are led and staffed by Zambian and Ugandan educators, community leaders, and other individuals who are passionate, qualified, and committed to education and discipleship. We seek to empower them to create positive change as they serve children in their communities.
We desire to see these partners one day carry on their work independently, without reliance on our aid. Thus, we encourage and support them as they take steps toward long-term self-sustainability. In Zambia, for instance, farming and student garden projects, the raising of pigs, and the planting of fruit trees on school land have begun providing our partner schools with food for their students and a source of income at market.

Many of Haven of Hope's short-term mission teams have also had opportunities to work directly with our partners and community members on special projects. They have collaborated with teachers on curriculum, worked alongside local craftsmen to install playground equipment, and helped community members repair homes and paint a local medical clinic. We deeply value these opportunities to labor hand in hand with those we serve.
